The feature film Antarctica: A Year On Ice by New Zealander Anthony Powell is gaining acclaim at festivals across North America.
So far the film has won:
The film has been over 10 years in the making. Anthony first started working in Antarctica as a communications technician at New Zealand's Scott Base in 1998.
He had to invent many of his own camera systems to work in the extreme cold of the Antarctic winter, capturing for the first time on the big screen the whole year round experience, including months of unending darkness in mind-numbing cold.
His footage has appeared in numerous TV shows and films around the world. Most recently he was featured in the Emmy Award winning BBC series Frozen Planet.
The film is currently touring as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival, and is also in wider release across New Zealand.
