Chilean actress Pauline García will attend the New Zealand International Film Festival to support the Civic Theatre screening of her film Gloria.
Gloria is a Chilean/Spanish co-production that tells the story of a divorced woman in her 50s attempting to recapture her life. García was awarded Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival 2013, the first time in 21 years that a Silver Bear award has been presented to a Chilean production.
“Paulina Garcia’s performance in this marvellous film is one of the year’s most truly inspired and inspiring. Her appearance at the Civic screening will be a wonderful bonus for festivalgoers,” says NZIFF director Bill Gosden.
The film has met with widespread critical acclaim since its Berlin award. “It’s hard to imagine anyone with a heart and a brain not responding to the quiet delights and stunning intimacy of Chilean director Sebastián Lelio’s account of the personal evolution of a 58-year-old divorcee, played with scrupulous honesty and intelligence by the wonderful Paulina García.” – David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter.
Pauline García will be present for the Wednesday 31 July Civic Theatre, Auckland, screening of her film.
