The Dark Knight- REVIEW by Rudy Tavarez

I’d like to make it clear that I’m a big fan of comics but more into Marvel than DC and incredible big fan of Iron Man which is the equivalent of Batman, but I will do my best to be objective and leave my fanaticism aside.

I have a question that maybe you guys can answer it for me, does Christopher Nolan have insecure issues? Or did he have? I’m starting to believe so on the way he makes his movies under the “my style” but for me it looks like he just don’t like go outside of his confident zone and being a film director versatilely should be your skill if you want to be widely success and not under a “tag” like I think he is. I watched Insomnia before Memento, but we can easily relate those two movies, I probably linked them even before I knew it was the same director, I’d say The Prestige was a bit different but still in the same “channel”, then I jumped to Batman Begins where he got me, yes he did, I sort of liked the way he changed the “classic” super hero movie into something very dark, I like how Gotham city was build I mean I knew it was Chicago but the Art Direction was very well done that got me into that mood.

Then we had The Dark Knight, wow! Everybody super excited to see Heath Ledger as the Jocker because how come someone else could be better than Jack Nicholson right? Well Jackpot for Nolan, Heath passed away, damn! Even a bloody Oscar got him, anyhow the point here is we were with our emotions on the edge that we sort of “over” loved that movie, yes I know it is very good but I still believe that fact that Heath was dead made it more interesting, maybe? Anyhow for me Christopher was on the climax, he nailed every detail of the movie, art, music, acting, cast, locations, etc. Gotham city was a bit more commercial but wow still that dark place where no one wants to be. Then he did Inception that it was sort of The Dark Knight for “no super heroes” fans, am I right? Same cast, same music, same location, seriously? Why? Was he afraid to fail? I mean I really like it, I really like it and I really like it, for me the best film he’s ever made.

What happened with The Dark Knight Rises? I think he tried to do the same but he didn’t try to do better. I think he missed a bit of the incredible art design he has done before, the masks at the party were a bit cheap, only the Catwoman was careful in detail, the snow was like the inception good but could’ve be better, I mean two years later. And what happen with Gotham City? From Chicago changed to NYC? It was many mistakes in day lights transitions, I mean yes a few it’s ok not big deal but the world is expecting the best!

I’m over his cast! Seriously? Now he brought Marion Cotillard who I think she put some weight on or maybe was the NON 3D why? she acts ok on her confident zone so I was like seeing her on La Vie en Rose, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt who was great, good on him! He is going well, let’s see what’s next out of him. But who is next? Seriously Leo was the only left! Come on Nolan!
Chris Bale, well I think he has improved his role in Batman but that’s it, I still like him better in The Fighter. What about Anne Hathaway? Is not GREAT? I’m very surprised but she was awesome, she probably owns that movie! Well done I think she could be excellent for a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” remaking, what do you guys think?

I think Nolan was or is a big fan of Batman that’s the only way I can understand the way he has changed things out the story on his own way, I like it yes. I’m keen to see the reboot of Superman that he is producing and of course will be a “Robin” coming soon.

Overall I think the movie was good, a bit too long for that a few action, but The Dark Knight was better, I’m not too sure how the “rotten tomatoes” will go but hopefully not as good as The Avengers (sorry). Well done Christopher I’m glad you finished the trilogy because I don’t think you were up for a 4th one. The summer blockbuster was definitely The Avengers and this is not me this is the world who is saying it.
